Subsea Umbilical Testing, Monitoring And Commissioning

At Fairtex Group, we provide our customers with umbilical testing, commissioning, and integrity management services to ensure the quality of the end product. Our personnel are fully trained and qualified to conduct umbilical testing in accordance with industry codes and standards. We are an independent subsea umbilical testing and commissioning company, providing third-party verification testing. Our tests are conducted during umbilical lead-out, lay monitoring, hang-off, and hook-up in shallow and deep waters. Our Umbilical Services include Electrical, Hydraulic, and Optical lines testing and commissioning.

Umbilical Services & Advantages

  • Time Domain Reflectometry

  • Optical Time Domain Reflectometry

  • Wireless Monitoring of Pressure and Resistance

  • Subsea Valve Operations Via Umbilical Lines

  • Blockage Remediation and Chemical Pumping (Fluid Change Outs)

Hydraulic

Our services include the following tests:

  • High-Pressure Testing to Pressures of 20 KPSI

  • Hydraulic fluid flushing and cleanliness analysis

  • Hydraulic fluid changeout (C&A) and Hydraulic fluid Examination (S.A.E. & N.A.S.)

Electrical

Our services include the following tests:

  • Conductor Resistance (CR) Testing

  • Insulation Resistance (IR) Testing and Crosstalk Testing

  • Electrical Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR)

  • Attenuation Testing and Insulation Resistance Testing

  • Conductor Resistance Testing

Fiber Optic

Our services include the following tests for Single Mode and Multi-Mode fibers:

  • Fiber splicing and Optical Time Domain Reflectometry (OTDR)

  • Attenuation Testing

Our services include pre- and post-loadout testing, monitoring during installation, and final commissioning. Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) can also be performed at your desired location or at our facilities in Port Harcourt. Our commissioning teams prepare detailed procedures and identify potential hazards prior to arriving on site. Once on location, we work with platform personnel to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure success.

Hazardous chemicals used in commissioning in the offshore energy industry can present a serious threat to personnel. Fairtex Group has experience with safely handling these chemicals, including:

  • Alcohol and Methanol and Asphaltine Dispersant

  • Oil-Based Control Fluid and Corrosion Inhibitor

  • Paraffin Inhibitor and Diesel and Water-Based Control Fluid

  • Glycol (100%) and Xylene

Our experienced teams use revolutionary pumping systems and proven equipment to provide flexibility and maximize efficiency, making us your contractor of choice.

Our umbilical services follow the umbilical life cycle, starting with initial testing at the manufacturer’s yard, monitoring during installation, and commissioning prior to system startup, to critical maintenance services for flow assurance remediation and fluid cleanliness, and ending with the final decommissioning of the umbilical system. Our built-for-purpose equipment was designed specifically for scope fit.

During the pre-planning phase, our management team understands the need to conserve vessel time during installation procedures and platform downtime. To mitigate these risks, we work closely with operators and subsea contractors to maximize work efficiency schedules and SIMOPS tasks without compromising safety or diligence.
