Fairtex Group provides Blow Out Preventer (BOP) Inspection Services to oil and gas companies. Our services include witnessing factory acceptance testing, inspection, installation, and full commissioning of all types of BOP units, including those manufactured by Shaeffer, Cameron, Hydril, and other reputable OEM manufacturers. These systems are rated from 5K, 10K to 15K, including the support and control systems.

Through our partner, Fairtex Group can provide full recertifications to API-16A and API 6A specifications on all BOP Manufacturers such as: NOV (T-3, Shaffer), Cameron, Townsend, Hydril, Kana, Church, Axon, and more.

Some of the major tasks our team can perform include:

  • Rigging Up/Rigging Down services as per approved BOP stack drawings.

  • Connecting control hoses with BOP Control Unit (Accumulators), function testing, and operating Accumulator units on location.

  • Performing maintenance of BOP equipment by greasing valves and maintaining the oil level of the accumulator unit.

  • Repairing well control equipment as needed.

  • Providing onsite assistance for snubbing jobs by swapping ram blocks for different pipe sizes and replacing Teflon inserts on stripper packers.

  • Assisting with tubular handling and running onsite.

  • Rigging down, inventorying, and transporting all Patterson equipment back to base.

  • Performing major recertifications, including dimensional inspection and rectifications, hot works, fluoropolymer coating, FAT tests with COC or SOF based on the scope performed.

  • Conducting shear tests, with in-house capability.

  • Performing corrective maintenance, rectifying leaks and functional failures, and recertifying product fitness with SOF.

  • Providing field/on-site rectification, including replacement of elastomers and pressure testing for unit fitness certification.

  • Performing long-term preservation for cold stacking.

  • Conducting major recertification of RAM blocks with COC from OEM/CEM.

  • Inspecting small bore BOPs used in coil tubing workover operations, medium to large bore BOPs in exploration, completion, and workover applications.

  • Verifying NDT - MPI inspection records.

  • Inspecting drape and flex hoses using a hose management system.

  • Function testing the BOP handling system.

  • Visually inspecting annular BOPs for key seating wear.

  • Conducting visual inspections of ram type BOPs to review dimensional checks on the cavities and the rams.

  • Inspecting BOP-mounted choke and kill valves.

  • Conducting operator chamber tests, including pressure and function testing.

  • Checking for key seating wear.

  • Inspecting the general condition of the BOP stack and conducting tests.

  • Verifying accumulator pre-charge pressures for all systems, with API 16D accumulator volume calculations

  • Reviewing the BOP controls system plumbing.

  • Managing spare parts inventory.

  • Maintaining Planned PMS/BOP Logbooks.

  • Conducting pressure tests on BOPs and related equipment.

  • Conducting function tests and drawdown tests on BOPs and control systems.

  • Conducting drift tests of the BOP stack with attention to annular BOPs.

  • Utilizing reference documents such as API and applicable regulations.
